Dear Mr. Roever:
On behalf of the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics, I want to thank you for speaking at The Citadel’s Annual Principled Leadership Symposium. 2012 marks the 5th year for this event and your participation helped to make it one of the best meetings to date.

During your major speaking role which culminated the two-day event, you touched the lives of over 2000 Citadel cadets, as well as faculty, staff and visitors. Your presentation resonated in a way that will long be remembered and is considered to be one of the best ever delivered on The Citadel campus. You have made a significant contribution to our leadership development efforts at The Citadel.

Thank you again for playing a critical role in our Principled Leadership Symposium and for your continued service to our nation as a voice for integrity, hope, service, and liberty.

Very truly yours,

To whom it may concern:

It is a pleasure to write this letter as a recommendation of support of Dave Roever and his presentations.

Dave Roever has completed seventeen presentations for the Butler Technology and Career Development Schools over the past seven years and two presentations with the Greene County Career Center this past year. These presentations were viewed by over 11,000 students from 23 high schools in southwest Ohio. Dave’s presentation included his personal story of triumph and several tips, for the students, on how to be successful with their personal and professional lives.

In the preparation for the events, Dave’s staff did an admirable job in communicating their expectations and needs for the presentation. His traveling staff also communicated well and worked with all Butler Tech and Greene County Career Center personnel is a positive manner. This staff exudes professionalism and ethical practice.

I have been involved in public education as an instructor and administrator for 18 years and am confident to say that Dave Roever is the most powerful and uplifting live presenter I have had the pleasure to work with. His message of hope and positive self esteem is inspirational and motivational. We have already scheduled Dave for an October 7, 2011 day of presentations due to the overwhelming response of our students and staff.

I highly recommend Dave Roever for your organization’s presentation needs. His message will motivate those in attendance and his staff will work with you in a professional manner.

Dear Dave,

Your presence and remarks during our 102nd Annual Spartan Battalion Military Ball on Saturday, 12 February 2011 made it one of the best events in many years. Many attendees commented that, “This was the best Military Ball I have ever attended” and “Dave Roever was the best speaker I have ever heard.” Your speech pulled at the heartstrings of every one of our 472 guests and your story of survival and patriotism left them fulfilled, hopeful and proud to be associated with young men and women in uniform. It was exceptionally great for the cadets and their parents whose commitments to the U.S. Army were solidified as they heard your story and your messages.

Although we all hope that no one ever has to make the sacrifices you and your family made, in all likelihood, some may, and that includes our cadets. Knowing that there are people like you and your foundation makes that a little easier to get their arms around. You helped to instill a spirit of sacrifice for the greater good of America which is critical in the development of our future leaders. You made this clear with your heartfelt comments.

Special thanks to Kathy, whose lovely voice provided a fitting ending to a truly amazing evening.

I have enclosed three copies of The State News, Michigan State’s student newspaper coverage, which contains an article on the ceremony.

Take comfort in the knowledge that we who wear the uniform today recognize what veterans, like you, did to make America the greatest nation in the world.

 Sincerely,

 James D. Rouse
Lieutenant Colonel, US Army
Chairperson

After being savagely attacked by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan the military did all they could to help me by prescribing me all sorts of medications, but nothing was working. Then I met Dave Roever. What the military couldn’t do for me in 14 MONTHS, Eagle’s Summit Ranch did for me in 2 WEEKS! I don’t know where I’d be today without this program. When all else failed, the Eagle’s Summit Ranch program worked. Now, I can honestly say that getting attacked by a suicide bomber never felt so good.

You’re the man, Dave! I’m honored and fortunate that we met and you took me from a military hospital room to the stage of public speaking and showed me how to live again. I’m honored to call you one of my very best friends.”

Eagles Summit Ranch is very hard to describe in words. You really don’t know what to expect when you first get there. It is a place where wounded warriors and their spouses can come and be with others that are experiencing the same realities. Once there, through the program you learn that, yes, something bad did happen, but it can be used to do so much more than bring sympathy from others. As Dave Roever says, “Scars are a universal language.” I say, yes they are, and there is not a person on this planet who doesn’t have a scar in one way or another. It just means I have a lot of people to talk with. My wife learned a great deal about herself and what she was made of, and me personally, I learned that I have more friends than I thought and that I have a great deal to offer the world. No longer do I have to wonder if the world is going to be kind because of what has happened, but rather hope that the world is ready for me, because I am coming full speed.”

Dear Mr. Roever,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the outstanding Ethics/Character brief that you provided to the men and women of Special Boat Team TWELVE.

Naval Special Warfare is faced with unique challenges when it comes to appropriately equipping our Sailors with the right tools for success. It’s easy to identify the most current operational gear – designed to allow us to operate longer, harder, and more efficiently. It’s even easy to identify the schools and technical training required to prepare our young Sailors to better function within their technical fields.

The real challenge comes in equipping our sailors with the ability to make the right personal choices – with helping them to develop a personal honor that will carry them through life. If we teach them to recognize, from the beginning, that there are consequences both good and bad for their actions, and if we teach them how to make the right choices in their personal lives, then are we setting them up for success both personally and professionally.

Again, on behalf of the men and women of special Boat Team TWELVE, I thank you for your willingness to share your story. More importantly, I thank you for our service to this great nation both as a “Brown Water” Sailor on the Rivers of Vietnam, and through your continuous support for the contributions of the men and women, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen and Marines who stand the watch daily, selflessly defending our way of life, and promoting the cause of freedom.”

Sincerely,

Commander, U. S. Navy

“I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Dave Roever tell his story of hope. I have heard Dave speak at least 1/2 dozen times, yet I always hear something new, remarkable, refreshing and thought-provoking. Dave has a way of capturing his audiences hearts, love and respect. His amazing and successful work with our Wounded Warriors is a noble cause that we all should continue to support. At a point in the Soldiers’ lives when hope and a bright future is not easily seen — Dave gives them a reason to achieve the unthinkable and contribute to society at a time when they most need a victory. Dave gives of himself more freely than most, and in my opinion, he is an American Hero. The Servicemen and women calling Hawaii home, as well as the veterans and civilian employees that were able to here Dave speak during his Hawaiian circuit, unmistakably emerged from the experience enriched and better people. Thank you Dave for what you do. You are an American treasure. Aloha

I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Roever as a high school student more than 20 years ago. As much as he positively impacted my young life back then, I had no idea he would continue to impact it in such profound ways over a generation later.

My husband is a severely injured veteran who is best known for his appearances on the front page of the Pulitzer Prize winning stories in The Washington Post, which later developed into his Congressional testimony about Walter Reed and the state of our military health care system.

Dave spent time speaking to us, one-on-one, about his Wounded Warrior Alliance and the Eagles Summit Ranch located in Westcliffe, Colorado. He invited us to come to a session at the ranch. It was almost another year before we could actually attend a session, but what happened after that was nothing but miraculous.

The session was so profoundly touching to us that we made the decision to actually make the first step in our “new” life and bought our first home. We chose to move to Westcliffe, Colorado and be near Dave and the ranch so we can “give back” in some small way. Only six weeks after we went to the ranch, we had finally done something we had only dreamed of doing for more than 20 years of our married life. We moved into our first home!

Now on a regular basis we have the privilege of seeing the incredible transformation of lives for those who come through the ESR program.

Dave is sharing a legacy of love, compassion, and faith that we hope to carry forward for generations to come, just as he has done.

Torrey S.
