Delayed. As I travel through airports across the world, this is a word I often see. Even today, as this e-mail is being written, I experienced this frustrating word. I do not enjoy it. As my phone dings with yet another “delayed” notification, I never find myself responding, “Yippee! I’m so excited to sit here longer and make my connecting flight that much tighter!” No, I usually respond with a sigh and frustration.

I’m just being honest!

In life, we often seem to get a “delayed” notification on our dreams, our plans, our goals. We feel God gives us a vision for the future, but it gets stalled and won’t move forward. We can choose to get mad and frustrated or we can grab another cup of coffee, open a good book (or THE Good Book), and wait. We seem to like the word “wait” about as much as “delayed,” but sometimes that’s exactly where God wants us.

Waiting. Trusting. Seeking.

From God’s perspective, delays are not mistakes. God may be allowing all the right components to synchronize for the exact timing that only He can see. Let’s learn to be patient while being delayed.

I’m on my way…my flight is about to depart!

With Love,

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him,

and He will make straight your paths.

One Response to ““Delayed””

  1. Love you Dave and love your heart for God even more! You have made such.a difference in my life. I first heard your story on a cassette tape my brother brought home from youth camp in Prescott AZ. Although, my Father was pastoring in Phoenix, your message touched me I. a way that nothing else had up until that point. When I got into my 20’s and began leading various youth groups of my own, I made every attempt possible to get them to one of your gatherings. I’m so sorry that you had to pay such a high price just in order to minister in a specialty, if you will. There is no one like you Dave, even though we are all like you! I know you must hurt terribly and you must be so very tired and, more than anything, long to see your Savior. I want peace and rest for you, but oh how grateful I am that you are here with us. You are my brother in Christ! I’ve shed many tears for you. I just wanted you to know that you bring so much light into a world of darkness. You and your wife are a wonderful gift from God and. true example for all of us!! There is so much I would love to say but as I keep writing I realize that there are just NO words to really express what’s in my heart. Sir, there is one thing I know for sure. When we finally stand before Jesus, then and only then, will you truly understand the difference you made because of your relentless love and relationship with the Father. I pray you will be encouraged, your soul and body will find rest and peace both in your travels and when you return!! Love to you, your wife, and your entire team!!! Nadine
